Our Rubber-Covered Metal base gaskets are a steel base metal coated on two sides with a specially compounded high-temperature, oil-resistant rubber. They exhibit exceptional tensile and compressive strength as well as excellent sealing and spacing characteristics.

The gaskets feature beading around the inner and outer perimeters on each gasket face. They seal at elevated temperatures while retaining maximum torque. They will not become brittle, split, extrude or burn-out like paper gasket. And, like all of or metal products, they require no additional gasket sealers for installation. Available for several models.

  • JGI-16774-21-X 74” & 80” Flatheads®

  • JGI-16777-96-X 4” Bore Evolution®

Torque Sequence and Procedure:

  1. With a torque wrench, start at cylinder head bolt #1 and tighten to 7 ft-lbs. Then, tighten #2, #3, & #4 to 7-9 ft-lbs.
  2. Using the same sequence, tighten each bolt to 12-15 ft-lbs.
  3. Using the same sequence, tighten each bolt to 22-25 ft-lbs.
  4. Lastly, using the same sequence, tighten each bolt to 38-42 ft-lbs.
